- Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor
Location: Various (Southern UK)
Contract: Permanent
TARCG Aviation has an exciting new opportunity to work with our aviation client. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a safe a healthy working environment of the maintenance teams, ensuring compliance with all relevant safety, health and environment legislation and company policies, procedures and standards.
The successful candidate will also provide direction and allocate work activities, ensuring compliance with site engineering standards, Control of Work, Training, Maintenance and Quality procedures to JIG and industry best practice. You will maintain and update a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS). You will be responsible for managing and monitoring maintenance KPI’s.
Responsibilities:
- Ensuring that established preventative maintenance programmes and unplanned works are carried out for each location in accordance with the service schedule, any legal requirements, JIG standards, and customer requirements.
- Where necessary write, plan and oversee control of work processes within designated locations and within area of expertise, including hazard risk assessment and permit to work.
- Be point of contact for communications with Airport Managers. Attend as required site safety meetings.
- Providing a point of contact for sites serviced by the Maintenance Team, organising vehicle service schedules and travel to ensure a cost-effective service.
- Management of 3rd party contractors when required.
- Ensure that all site maintenance files are effectively maintained. May include, but not limited to, technical and HSE bulletins. Routine & Non-Routine maintenance tasks, Risk Assessments & PTW.
- Assist as required with any audits carried out by the company, partners, customers, suppliers or other authorities.
- To raise ideas that will provide development of procedures or design which will improve safety, efficiency or serviceability of vehicles, systems and operational equipment.
- Be responsible for maintaining a satisfactory level of personal training with regard to task breakdowns and technical upgrades, identifying any shortfall and reporting to the Vehicle Maintenance Manager.
- Provide training and support for staff to ensure their maintenance personal training is completed on time and to a satisfactory level.
- Review maintenance training requirements and produce suitable procedures and Task Breakdowns, Confirmation of Training tests and record keeping documents to allow training.
- Maintain records for personnel confirmation of training and record to Intelex
- Actively participate in the near miss reporting process and Safety Observations/conversation process.
- Operating correct Safety and Emergency Procedures in the event of incidents – Review of existing and create where necessary any maintenance-based emergency procedures
- Act as first point of call line management for all day to day personnel matters within assigned area, flagging up any concerns or issues which may affect the smooth running of the Operation to the Vehicle Maintenance Manager
- Ensure that the CMMS Pirana system is kept up to date at all times and that any overdue items are investigated and closed off accordingly
- Carry out workshop audits and ensure that workshop and maintenance areas comply with all relevant Health and Safety standards, Assist with VSB risk assessments as required
- Assist with incident investigations and ensure any maintenance-based recommendations are fully implemented within agreed timeframes
- Carry out site visits, to ensure maintenance facilities are operating to the requirements of Risk Assessments and to assist and coach maintenance staff in case of operational issues
- Carry out site audits on maintenance tasks carried out by non-maintenance personnel and if necessary, upskill staff to ensure compliance with our clients and JIG standards
- Regular communication with Site/s to update on progress of works
- Assist on vehicle new build and re-tractor projects
- Manage and run smaller vehicle modification projects, obtaining quotes and dealing with suppliers to ensure on budget completion
- Manage and run smaller site projects alongside the plant technicians.
- To ensure that all recoverable costs are processed in accordance with prescribed requirements.
- To maintain a close working relationship with the Vehicle Maintenance Manager and to ensure the required data from agreed locations is provided in an accurate and timely manner.
- Ensure that suitable levels of spare parts are maintained whilst keeping within agreed budgets
- Instigate and maintain a centrally funded critical parts system to reduce costs and improve vehicle reliability
- Raise purchase orders where necessary for spares and service in a timely manner to allow maximum efficiency of equipment.
- Implement the performance review system for each report within designated sites
- Must have completed an apprenticeship in vehicle maintenance/maintenance discipline or have had at least 5 years of practical experience in the aviation refuelling industry.
- Working Knowledge of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems preferred but not essential.
- Experience of managing Permit to Work systems, or Safe Systems of Work
- Knowledge and experience of health & safety procedures/requirements

- Minimum of NVQ Level 3 in Maintenance or Mechanical Engineering discipline or 5 years’ experience in the aircraft refuelling industry with a proven knowledge and understanding of refuelling systems
- Full driving licence (ideally clean)
