Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Location: Manchester Airport
Contract: Permanent 
 
TARCG has an exciting new opportunity for a Maintenance Technician to work with our aviation client based at Manchester Airport. The successful candidate will maintain our client's fleet of refuelling vehicles based at Manchester Airport and other surrounding airports.
 
They will also be responsible for carrying out the servicing, repair, and related defects of the refuelling fleet within an agreed geographical area.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Operating to the high standards set by our client and ensure all maintenance of vehicles and equipment is to industry principles and ensure compliance with our client’s Health & Safety Policy and Joint Inspection Group standards.
  • Working as a member of the maintenance team to ensure the on-time vehicle servicing and inspection of aircraft refuelling vehicles and associated fuelling equipment.
  • Organising own site visits and workloads to ensure vehicle inspections are carried out on schedule.
  • Carrying out new vehicle commissioning.
  • Providing sites with support for the non-routine maintenance of refuelling equipment.
  • Oversee the use of 3rd party contractors to carry out specialised vehicle repairs and ensure that all recoverable costs are processed in accordance with prescribed requirements.
  • Maintaining a close working relationship with the Vehicle Maintenance Manager and to ensure the required data from agreed locations is provided in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Ensuring that the Workshop complies to health and safety standards.
  • Ensuring all areas and equipment are safely stored.
  • To ensure that the workshop area is suitably maintained to provide a safe and suitable environment for vehicle maintenance.
  • To suggest ideas that will provide development of procedures or vehicle design which will improve safety, efficiency or serviceability or operational equipment.
  • To provide coaching and guidance on issues from operations, HSE and Product Quality, once training has been provided and to undertake fuel quality control checks and inspections on relevant items in the aviation fuel supply system.
  • Be responsible for maintaining a satisfactory level of personal training with regard to task breakdowns and technical upgrades, identifying any shortfall and reporting to the Vehicle Maintenance Manager.
  • Ensure that suitable levels of vehicle spare parts are maintained whilst keeping within agreed budgets.
  • Raise purchase orders for spares and service in a timely manner to allow maximum efficiency of equipment.
  • Actively participate in the near miss reporting process and Safety reports / Tool-box talks
  • Regular communication with Site/s to update on progress of works.
Requirements:
  • At least 5 years post apprentice experience as vehicle mechanic and the completion of recognised apprenticeship training in LGV maintenance and repair.
  • An effective team player with the ability to co-ordinate maintenance work with others and work safely under own initiative whilst meeting deadlines and objectives. 
Qualifications:
  • Current HGV Class 1 Or 2 Licence
  • Minimum NVQ Level 3 in vehicle/plant maintenance or equivalent
  • Completion of recognised apprenticeship training within Vehicle / Plant Maintenance fields (essential)
