- Title: Head of Security (Aviation / Aerospace)
Location: North England, UK
Salary: £70,000 Gross/Per Annum
Work Type: Permanent
Role Purpose:
Accountable for the delivery of Aviation Security by defining strategy, policies and implementing measures to deliver & continuously improve the Security staff performance. Responsible for all security training, Airport ID, full compliance oversight and a high performing department as a whole, ensuring the service remains fully compliant, in budget and customer focused to deliver a stress free customer journey.
Responsibilities:
Corporate:
- To define the corporate strategy in relation to aviation security which ensures all passengers & airport partners receive a consistently high quality service, while creating an atmosphere which encourages customer commercial spend and generates repeat business within the terminal building.
- As a member of the management team, contribute as required to the wider business agenda, proactively and collaboratively supporting other business areas where required.
Operational:
- To define service levels, KPI & business metrics covering all operational standards within security which meet the full regulatory security requirements and complement the business’ strategic objectives.
- Deliver and encourage a strong and positive culture with fully engaged staff to deliver set KPI’s, staff embracing the business values, while managing the wellbeing of staff.
- To manage all operational and capital expenditure budgets in relation to aviation security equipment, maintenance contracts, uniforms and operational needs.
- To build and maintain effective working relationships with national & local authorities both internally and externally (DfT, UKBA, Police, CTU), plus Unions and associated staff welfare groups.
- To advise the business of all changing regulatory requirements that will impact on the business both operationally and financially.
- To manage the aviation security contract and intervene when appropriate, with a view to ensuring the service remains fully compliant, in budget and customer focused. Develop rectification plans when necessary to ensure contract criteria are fully met
- To project manage the capital expenditure approval, acquisition and installation of all aviation security equipment to ensure compliance deadlines are met.
- To represent externally in relation to all aviation security and related issues which impact on business.
- Ensure our client meets its legislative requirements in relation to the Airport Policing Bill 2009.
- Skills / Knowledge / Competencies
- ASM qualification and leadership skills / qualifications which reflect role scope
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant full UK regulatory requirements.
- Strategic focus to drive the core KPI’s, vison & values of the business.
- Interpersonal skills, communication skills, ability to persuade and influence.
- Ability to plan and organise, together with a methodical and detailed approach.
