The Airside Transport Manager will be responsible for taking the lead role within the LHR Airside Transport function. You will deliver effective management and sustain delivery provided by the Airside Transport fleet. Responsible for the maintenance of the fleet and ensuring the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance within Airside Operations are maintained.
The role holder will be expected to display outstanding qualities of leadership and demonstrate a ‘lead from the front’ approach to the Airside Transport team, whilst enabling and empowering the operational team and, supporting the leading-edge Cargo Operations at LHR.
Job Responsibilities:
- Take the lead role in planning, costing, and allocating resources and vehicles ensuring sufficient flexibility is in place to meet the varying and changing needs of customers and associated SLA agreements.
- Ensure that all Airside vehicles are compliant with all HAL, legal, regulatory, and contractual requirements, and where necessary arranging ad-hoc repairs and maintenance.
- Develop and implement a proactive, planned, and structured approach to the maintenance of Airside fleet vehicles, keeping within the designated budget and ensuring all vehicles used are fit for purpose and the customer experience is of a high standard.
- Ensure all drivers hours are recorded and audited and any infringements incurred are addressed with drivers.
- Ensure all service records and safety inspections are carried out at correct frequency.
- Maintain a yearly safety inspection schedule.
- Ensure Airside transport staff & Airside Operations Management deliver the service appropriate to the changing needs of customers.
- Manage and develop a team of Airside drivers and Airside / Operations Management, either alone or in small teams, in order to deliver a high-quality service to customers.
- To take the lead in resolving unforeseen problems as they arise ensuring appropriate resolution.
- Ensure all health, safety and transport requirements are met.
- Must have Airfreight Transport experience and knowledge
- Must have experience in a similar managerial role in the transport sector, including supervision of Operational Management and staff.
- Experience of managing budgets & contracts – Fleet maintenance and contract evaluation and pricing.
- Excellent written and verbal communication – Excel / Word – T&A applications.
- Proven ability to plan and manage contracted Customer activity & adhere to existing and future SLA compliance.
- Experience of vehicle maintenance costs and controls.
- Full C+E license holder
