Warehouse General Manager

We are looking for an experienced leader to join our clients UK Cargo Leadership Team and become the new General Manager for London Heathrow. Reporting to the Head of UK Operations, this post will be tasked with the responsibility to oversee the daily operations of the Cargo Handling business.
 
A thorough knowledge of Air Cargo Handling procedures & Airside warehousing operations is essential. The ideal candidate will be competent and able to plan a broad range of operational activities related to a high performing business. Excellent leadership qualities will be essential along with an eye for business efficiency.
 
A key purpose of this role is to safeguard and improve the efficiency of the company’s operations & contribute to the UK businesses long-term success. Strong communication skills and an ability to understand and work amongst different functions is essential along with experience and understanding of complex employee relations scenarios, warehouse & operational requirements.
 
Responsibilities:

• Ensuring that communication between departments is ongoing and utilised to maintain an environment of continuous improvement.
• Being first point of contact for the customer.
• Supporting the company in production planning and making sure the business is resource effectively.
• Training of staff and managers to ensure that everyone is performing effectively in their role.
• Providing a leadership support function to teams and motivating staff to achieve production goals.
• Managing budgets and costs effectively in respect of the planning process and keeping records.
• Acting as a liaison to senior management and board of directors to keep them up to date with operational matters.
• Ensuring key performance indicators are in place and production targets are met.
• Implementation of any new local or corporate policies and procedures relating to the production process.
• Planning and managing with the relevant teams day-to-day running of UK Cargo business to ensure smooth progress, profitability and service and safety deliverables.
• Engaging with director level and senior management from different departments and providing results within line of budgetary and corporate goals and targets.
• Overseeing customer/carrier processes and organising them to enhance customer satisfaction.
• Meeting/developing service delivery and performance goals (SLA’s etc.).

• Proven experience and delivery as senior Operational Manager/Director of Operations or equivalent position.
• Excellent organisational and leadership abilities.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal people skills.
• Knowledge of industry’s legal rules and guidelines related to Air Cargo compliance.
• In depth knowledge of diverse business functions and principles (e.g. supply chain, finance, customer service etc.).
• Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics.
• Familiarity with MS Office and various business software platforms.
• Ability to influence multiple levels of the organisation.
• Proven leadership of teams to achieve organisational goals.
• Understanding of Continuous Improvement activities.
