Description
Role: Satellite AIT Shift Lead Engineer
Rate of Pay: Please apply for further details 
Location: Stevenage - This role will be working on site full time - free parking is provided
Working Pattern: 37 hours per week. A blend of – Monday to Friday day and early/late shifts. 20% rate uplift during times of shift working
Length of Contract: 12 months - Possible extension after initial contract duration
Travel: Occasional travel to other UK and overseas sites
Job Summary:
The AIT Shift lead is responsible for completing all tasks as defined in the daily build plan across all the electrical and mechanical tasks for the assembly & integration planned for that day’s work in the clean room.
Reporting To: AIT Manager
Direct Reports: A small group of up to ten technicians
Internal Relationships: The AIT team
External Relationships: The quality team
Job Profile:
The AIT Shift lead shall:
  • Advance alternative work to minimise downtime when tasks are disrupted,
  • Carry out pre/post shift handover documentation
  • Lead SQCDP meetings
  • Prepare operational work plan/documentation
  • Ensure correct H&S practices are adhered to in the clean room
  • Co-ordinating test for critical integrations (Solar arrays, deployments)
  • Co-ordinating critical systems tests (mechanical/electrical )
  • Shifts will be a combination of days, earlies and lates (and possibly nights) within a reasonable period of notice
  • Opportunity for working on other UK and overseas sites
Skills/Experience Required:
Essential:
  • Satellite build experience
  • Leadership experience
  • Manufacturing engineering knowledge
Desirable:
  • Use of digital manufacturing execution tools
  • Deployment of Satellite Solar Arrays
  • Deployment of Satellite Antennas using Helium Balloon
Education & Training:
Essential: Strong experience in a similar role is key for this post
Desirable: HNC / Degree
