- Role: Production Operations ManagerRate of Pay: Please apply for further detailsLocation: Farnborough - This role will be working on site full time - free parking is provided for this roleLength of Contract: 12-months - Probable extension after initial contract durationWorking Pattern: 37 hours per week, Monday - Friday, daysTravel: Occasional travel to other UK and overseas sitesJob Summary:The Zephyr is a state of the art solar powered ultralight weight Unmanned Air Vehicle for use in commercial and military applications from Airbus Defence and Space.A new role has been created for a Production Operations Manager inside the Zephyr project team. The scope of this role is to recruit and manage a new operations team to deliver the Zephyr Aircraft and Ground Support Equipment in line with business requirements.Reporting To:The successful applicant with report to the Zephyr - Head of Production and join the TAZ business unit (operationally and functionally) in Farnborough, Hampshire, UK.Job Profile:Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:· Line management, Leadership, Management, recruitment and training of technical production personnel and staff.· Delivery and industrial ramp up of Zephyr UAV’s platforms to Safety, Quality, Cost and Time using Lean techniques.· Leadership of Production planning· Establishment and monitoring of production KPI’s· Continuous Improvement of the production system in line with business targets· Health and Safety· Delivery of a Lean and “Right First Time” Quality culture with associated business systems.· Leadership of technical and administrative support functions (matrix management).· Stores planning and inventory control.· Reporting and performance management of production· Problem Solving and corrective action delivery.· Interfacing with MRO / Spares and Repairs teams as necessary.
Skills/Experience RequiredThe successful candidate will demonstrate the following:· Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline· Proven experience of operational leadership in high technology/ lean production environment· Able to obtain UK SC Clearance· Excellent Leadership and management skills in a fast paced and changing environment.· Demonstrated Experience solving tactical operational issues in conjunction with strategic longer term topics.· IT Skills
Preferred Skills:· Knowledge of Aerospace Production techniques and standards· Knowledge of CFRP production techniques· Knowledge of avionics installation and test techniques.· Experience creating new production systems, teams and facilities.· Flexibility to support multiple production locations.
Working Pattern:Monday to Friday days
Travel:Occasional travel to other UK and overseas sites
Extension:Probable extension after initial contract duration
