Role Overview:We now have an exciting new vacancy for a Subcontracting Business Manager, to work with us as part of the Airbus Structures Test organisation in the UK; based in the Aerospace Integrated Research and Test Centre (AIRTeC), Filton, UK.The Structures Test Centre UK is part of the Material Processes and Test domain of Airbus. The Structures Test Centre UK is one of three Airbus centres that perform or manage the full pyramid of static and fatigue structures tests on all Airbus Aircraft Programmes and R&T including exciting new projects on hybrid testing and Zero Emissions aircraft.Responsibilities:The Subcontracting Business Manager will report to the Test Centre Business Operations Manager and will be responsible for:• Constructing, negotiating, and managing contractual T&Cs with the supply chain fixed price package partners• The Subcontracts Manager will also support the implementation of category management sourcing strategies and work cross-functionally with technical and procurement stakeholders.
Specific duties of the Subcontracting Business Manager include:• Support coordination of all procurement subcontract activities in conjunction with technical stakeholders (over 50 suppliers)• Support test leaders to negotiate and manage contractual change with suppliers and subcontractors• Support our test centre teams to ensure suitable subcontract partners are in place to support bid, tender and new business activities• Manage subcontractors throughout the project life cycle - including delivery, goods receipt follow up, management of quality etc.• Support of test centre teams with all external purchasing including raising of purchase orders• Acting as focal point for OPEX and CAPEX approval within the test centre; ensuring all subcontracting activities respect the company procedures• Day to day support of our calibration laboratory team with customer liaison, quotation and logistics for all equipment requiring calibration (over 1500 items in 2022)• Management of the subcontractor induction board for onsite working• Occasional support to external business development & customer call for tender activities
Skill Set:Essential:You will have experience in procurement, supplier or subcontractor management, ideally within a defence or aerospace environment.• Strategic procurement or supply chain management experience within an aerospace, defence or project driven business• The ability to manage subcontractors, suppliers and supply chain partners• Excellent negotiation skills and commercial acumen• The gravitas to build relationships with senior stakeholders and internal stakeholders
