Core hoursLength of Contract: 6-months - Possible extension after initial contract durationTravel: Occasional travel to other UK sitesJob Summary:The Industrial Means team is responsible for supplying mechanical ground support equipment used in the manufacture of various satellite equipment such as –
- Large scale Jigs
- Lifting Beams & lifting accessories
- Handling frames
&- Tools for general manufacture and assembly
To support the team in helping deliver two new exciting products this year; OneSat and ENEO6The Supply Chain Engineer has to ensure the delivery of the jigs and tooling equipment, on-time, on-cost and on-quality; by working closely with stakeholders such as:- Industrial Means team
- Production teams
&- Suppliers
The Supply Chain Engineer will work with the existing supplier base to:- Assess their capability and capacity to undertake various work packages
- Communicate and identify any risks which may impact the schedule,
- Hold regular reviews with suppliers for purchase orders already placed and planning and scheduling future needs.
This is a hands on role requiring some flexibility in scope and duties.
Reports to:- Industrial Means Manager
Job Profile:· Act as an interface with suppliers of Industrial Means for operational activities:· Prepare for call for tenders and issue request for quotations in-line with Airbus policy. Raise purchase orders and track and monitor through to delivery.· Assess suppliers during tendering phase and contribute to the selection decision.· Assess the Supplier capacity, capability & performance and contribute to supplier development.· Manage/contribute to supply chain & quality aspects of the contract being responsible for On time, on Quality (and on Cost when applicable) performance. Report on supplier operational performance.· Identify the supplier industrial risks and propose mitigation actions.· Review supplier quality performance and agree appropriate action plans.· Raise Non-conformance Reports process and if applicable, requests for deviations and see through to closure.· Work out short term recovery plans- Able to deal with complex quality events.· Support the SCQM on quality topics & supplier qualification, lean, manage changes, audits & assessment, technical knowledge (if requested).· Participate in delivery review boards and manage handovers to the relevant teams and departments.

External Relationships:• Suppliers on ADS approval list.
Skills/Experience Required:Essential Requirements:• Experience in supply chain management and or logistics role• A demonstrated competence and relevant experience in project, procurement or product development management.• Knowledge of the current project management tools (SAP, Ms Project, Excel, Word, and PPT)• Ability to lead negotiations• Ability to work in a cross-functional team in a multi-national matrix organisation• Ability to understand the challenges of the program beyond the scope of their own work and take those challenge into account in the execution of the work• Work style characterised by good teamwork, autonomy, initiative and cooperation• Good communication and interpersonal skills and social competence• Ability to facilitate the exchange of information and lessons learnt between functions, projects and organisations.• Efficient and organised with an ability to work effectively under pressure• Demonstrates a behaviour of continuous improvement.
Education & Training:- Diploma or degree or similar education
- Strong experience in a similar role
