The successful applicant will join the UK CTO team responsible for Research & Technology (R&T) Business Development and Partnerships.The job holder will engage in collaborative UK Government funded contracts, which provide public funding for Airbus Research and Technology (R&T) projects. They will be responsible for bid preparation, contract negotiation, contract fulfilment and monitoring.
Tasks & accountabilities:The job holder will work closely with internal stakeholders (IP/Legal/Engineering) and external partners to negotiate a range of R&T contractual agreements.The job holder will also produce and collate contractual documentation for funding proposals which will require an interface with the funding agency (DBT/ATI/Innovate UK) for specific contracts, and collaborative partners.Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:− Working trans-nationally and locally to identify opportunities for funded contracts (5%)− Preparation of bids for public funding, definition of appropriate contract structure, assembly of the required data (technical content; tax-payer value for money; strategic fit; partner rationale; exploitation plans….) in close collaboration with technical experts and partners, and establishing the contract costs. (15%)− Negotiation of the contract requirements with the funding body, establishing collaborative research agreements with partners (including IP terms), and completes the bid submissions process to achieve the best outcome for Airbus. To effectively integrate between the R&T partner and internal teams (CTO; Legal; Engineering; Procurement ….) to secure an acceptable set of terms for Airbus. (10%)− Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with the key stakeholders in the contract at Airbus (technical & commercial), within the collaborative partners’ organisations and at the target funding agency (officials & contract reviewers), to ensure business needs are met. (10%)− Administration of the contract, ensuring deliverables and milestones, risks and opportunities (technical deliverables and risks and opps remain the responsibility of the technical project leader(s)) are correctly reported and triggers claims for contract payments. Managingchange within the project (Airbus & Partners), following Airbus priorities and steering the strategic direction of the project. Accountability for ensuring the project management deliverables required by the monitoring organisation (e.g. Innovate UK) such as plans, deliverable lists, financial forecast and risks and opportunities registers are achieved. (30%)− Managing contract reporting to the funding agency, assembling and presenting the information required under the terms of the contract, by the funding agency, including any contract amendments and maintaining the Airbus contract database to support internal reporting and forward planning. The role also requires the job holder to chair “Quarterly Review Meetings” for each contract (15%)− Managing contract status reporting inside Airbus, maintaining the Airbus contract database with relevant and topical data, and supporting the preparation of management information for financial reporting and AOP planning. (5%)This role will possibly involve travel for business and as such the jobholder must be able to travel accordingly.
Required skills:As the successful candidate you will be able to demonstrate some or all of the following skills and competencies:− Strong verbal and written communication and negotiation in our business language (English)− A desire to work in a collaborative team environment, focused on driving future innovation− Contracting experience with legal awareness including IP− Negotiation Skills− Well organised team player− Educated to degree level (or equivalent), specialising in Business or Engineering related.− Customer or supplier facing experience.− Politically astute.− Personable / GSOH as the role involves interaction with Government agencies and ministers / Suppliers / Legal / Manufacturing / Engineering and Finance, etc.− Awareness of the security of data and export sensitivities.− Tension / Competition resilience.− Self-starter attitude, pro-activity and involvement.− Organisation in terms of quality and timeliness.− Time management skills of self and others, including ability to work under pressure/workload prioritisation
