- Role: Project Manager - Secure CommunicationsRate of Pay: Please apply for further detailsLocation: Portsmouth - Following a familiarisation period on site this role will involve hybrid working 3 days per week on-site and two days per week working from home. Candidates must be able to work on site full time when required – free parking is providedWorking Pattern: 37 hours per week. Monday to Friday days. Ad hoc additional working hours when supporting a bidLength of Contract: 12-months - Possible extension after initial contract durationTravel: Regular travel to other UK sites with the possibility of infrequent international travel.Job Summary:We are looking for Project Managers with proven project management experience, excellent leadership and communication skills to join Airbus Defence & Space, Connected Intelligence, Secure Communications Project Management Team.The successful applicants will lead the delivery phase of complex military satellite communications projects and provide project initiation and planning expertise in the associated business winning campaigns.Airbus standards adopt the lifecycle guidance recommended by the Project Management Institute (PMI).You will be responsible for Project Initiation, Planning, Execution, Monitoring and Controlling and Closing of projects delivering complex secure communications infrastructure and services.You will be responsible for managing projects in accordance with the Airbus project lifecycle standards & accountable for the quality, cost and schedule performance of the project.Reporting To:Head of Project DeliveryInternal Relationships:Bid TeamEngineering TeamsQuality TeamsDesign & Configuration TeamsOperational Support functionsExternal Relationships:Regular contact with suppliers & customers for meetings and presentations
Skills/Experience Required:Essential:A degree or equivalent in project management, business management, or a relevant engineering discipline.A good understanding of the PMI Project Management body of knowledge.A basic understanding of AGILE project management.At least five years’ experience of approving initial briefs/baselines, delivering projects and supporting bids in an engineering environment. Ideally, this will be the communications, aerospace, space or defence industries
Education & Training:Essential:Strong experience in a similar role
Desirable:A good technical background to support your project management roleSTEM degree or equivalentPMI/PMP certification
Working Pattern:Monday to Friday daysAd hoc additional working hours when supporting a bid
