- Role: Senior Product Prototype Model MakerRate of Pay: Please apply for further detailsLocation: Filton - On-site 100%Working Pattern: Standard 35 hours across 4.5 days (working between 7-7 at business discretion)Length of Contract: Until 03/09/2024 - Possible extensionTravel: OccasionalIntroduction:The Protospace facility enables rapid prototyping throughout the company in a low cost, low bureaucracy environment.Protospace UK is a small department, and as such needs to recruit a multi skilled individual.We are looking for a multi skilled, highly motivated, well organised individual with a keen eye for detail.The ideal candidate will be an integral team member of the UK Protospace team. The individual will do their part to complete projects on time, on cost, to a high standard of quality all whilst operating in a safe environment.Activities:General:
- Proactive problem solving mindset
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong focus on timescales and organisation
- Work effectively both as a team member and individually, with strong motivation and determination to achieve a given task.
- Practical hands on mindset.
Engineering:- The candidate should possess a good portfolio of engineering experience in (ideally) both design and manufacturing environments.
- The candidate should be able to read and interpret typical engineering data eg. drawings and models.
- Knowledge of a recognised CAD package will be an advantage.
- The candidate must have experience of working in a modern engineering environment where safe working is of paramount importance.
Practical/Maker Skills:The candidate should possess more than one of the following maker skills, either from professional or hobbyist experience:- Woodwork/Carpentry
- Metallic machining
- Composite manufacture
- Fabrication/Welding
- 3D printing
- CNC
- Machine maintenance
- Knowledge of a wide portfolio of materials, that might include:Metallics Wood Plastics Ceramics Composites
Clerical:As mentioned previously, Protospace is a small team. The candidate will therefore be expected to contribute to clerical activities such as:- Procurement
- Job Tracking
- Financial Accounting
- Health and Safety documentation
- Documentation and general organisation
- Facilities management
- Monitor Protospace members training requirements
